SISTERS TOGETHER ACHIEVING RECOVERY

A Place of Empowerment and Understanding

Every woman has a story, a unique journey filled with challenges, victories, and lessons. At S.T.A.R., these stories come together, forming a strong network of hope, resilience, success and unity. Born from the belief that when women support each other, society benefits greatly.

Our name signifies more than just an acronym, it's a commitment and collaboration for every woman's Recovery toward Wellness!

OUR FOUNDING STORY

Our journey began in 2018 with a single story - a woman's desire for a safe space, free from judgment, where she could express her challenges and find support. Today, we've grown into a vibrant community that showcases the power of togetherness and the impact of shared experiences. Our mission is clear and meaningful.

Our Inspirational Roots are rooted in a real-life narrative of a woman burdened by a challenging relationship, sought understanding and a judgment-free space. Through art and sharing, she re-discovered her life was valuable and options to address her relationships. This story is the S.T.A.R.’s essence - a nurturing space, life value, devoid of judgment, endless possibilities.

Born from Living Positive's initiative in 2018 and re-imagined as its own in 2022, Sisters Together Achieving Recovery (S.T.A.R.)

A place where women can voice their experiences, narrate their stories, and embrace a myriad of paths. At its core, S.T.A.R. champions the idea that each woman's journey, while deeply personal, has universal resonance.

To date we have successfully facilitated STAR forums in various communities of: Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten, Island and Long Island.

OUR MISSION

  • Promote recovery and wellness through educational forums that address a myriad of Health concerns; valued lived experience and tools for empowerment to foster changes

  • Provide valuable resources to address Health concerns such as: Medical, Mental Health, Spirituality, Physical health, Financial, Sexual and Social.

By sharing stories, offering encouragement, and celebrating each other’s progress, we help build a foundation of strength and resilience. At S.T.A.R., every woman is a valued part of this sisterhood, a movement dedicated to lifting each other up and creating brighter futures for all.

Our mission is guided by these core principles:

Empowerment

Every woman deserves to feel strong, valued, and capable of achieving her goals.

Acceptance

We celebrate individuality and honor every woman’s unique journey.

Unity

Together, we are stronger. Our community is built on support, connection, and sisterhood.

Education

We provide tools and resources to help women take control of their lives.

Every woman’s recovery journey is unique, yet many face common challenges — stigma, bias, and limited resources.

At S.T.A.R., we believe recovery should be free from judgment and filled with support and empowerment.
